Today, I remember when I was much younger (I am still young😌) and my father would say over and over that I am going to be great. Great like Okonjo-Iweala. (My father made me fall in love with her). He would say to me that I should never feel inferior at all because I am intelligent and smart.
Today is international women’s day and I am led to write a letter to you. A love letter that reminds you of who you are as a woman. A love letter that sparks a fire in you that has always been there. A love letter that connects your subconscious to the possibilities dwelling in you. You are going to hear amazing things today and I really hope you let the words you hear about the great woman you are sink deep into you.
I don’t know you but I know you. I know you like the way I know myself. I know that I did not just happen. I know that God created me for a purpose. He thought of me (like he did about you), took his time and decided that he wanted me in this world. God gave me to the world. Therefore, I was carefully and thoughtfully created.
Dear woman, You are beautiful. I know that I am beautiful. But in my teenage years, I struggled to believe it. In JSS3, a teacher told me I looked like a boy. This messed with me. I began to hate a lot of things about myself. I hated that I had to cut my hair especially. I would cover my low cut with my beret which I wore throughout the time I was in school until I got home. I did not feel beautiful. I would compare myself with other girls around me. I would say to myself that I could never match up with their beauty. I cried many times to God about it. I cried that he gave me a big nose, big eyes and all. But as I grew, I realized that I did not need to feel beautiful. God has made me beautiful. It is an aspect of me that he settled when he created me. The beauty he gave to me was not to be compared with the standards of this world, or the other girls I had seen or will see in life. My beauty was on His standards. I found in his love letter to me how He is crazy about my beauty. The more I consumed his words, the more light came into me and my beauty became a fact not just an opinion or feeling. He wrote a book just to tell me of how much he remains dazzled by my beauty. Now more than ever before, I look into the mirror and I marvel, oh my , geez this beauty is a discovery.
Dear woman, You are a blessing. You enrich lives. I boldly like to affirm that I am a sweet source. I remember how I went to seek God for my word for 2023 and then he said these words to me👇🏾
‘you are a well-watered garden (Isaiah 58:11), an eternal excellence and a joy to many generations’ ( Isaiah 60:15).
I was also listening to Pst Mildred Okonkwo’s podcast and I learnt something profound. She said that it is no mistake that the book of Proverbs personifies wisdom as a ‘she’. This made me know as a woman I am wisdom personified. The Bible explains the qualities of wisdom. That as a woman( wisdom personified): You are worth more than gold and silver; that you are more precious than rubies; that your ways are pleasant and all your paths leads to peace. You are a tree of life. There is nothing dead in you. You are not just a blessing but a blesser of lives. People meet you and their lives change for good. The organization you belong to does amazing things because you are there. In your class, you smash the ceilings because you are there.
Dear woman, You are doing great. You are smart, you work really hard for what you want and it is amazing how far you have come and how far you are going to go.
Dear woman, You are strong. Strong enough to give it all you need. Strong enough to make your stand known. Strong enough to live each day of your life.
Dear woman, You are a light. You are to shine without seeking permission from others. In your light, others find their light. You don’t cower. Your light draws people and does not dispel.
Dear woman, You are salt. Your life adds taste to others. You influence people positively, break grounds and you stand tall. You ginger people with your success. When people meet you, they live again, they are healed and they bear fruit.
Dear woman, You are inspirational. Your story is unique. Your highs and lows, the scars and pain reflect what you are made up of. Your calling is special. Your giftings are beautiful. Your passion and fire is amazing. You are such a goal getter; You do not quit at all. You are a limit breaker!
Dear woman, You are all God has called you to be. You are the bride of Christ reflecting his image and likeness. You are transformed by God’s love letter to you (The Bible). More and more you move from glory to glory.
Dear woman, the world is always saying things on who you are or what you should do, but you should never forget who God has called you to be and what he continues to say about you.
You remain God’s canvas of possibilities.
