I write to you today with a new perspective on things, a new hunger and passion. It is close yet looks far, seems all-consuming yet fully patient. It is something, no someone. It is God, ready to take deep root in me.

How are you doing? I hope you are doing well and life is treating you nicely. I am glad to write to you today. Most times, I don’t always have an idea of what exactly I want to write to you. All I know is that I must share something with you. So, I start writing. But before I do, I pray. I pray because my heart wants something for you– that the words you read everytime you open my mail go beyond just words. I pray my words become as life communicating with your spirit making you to see the things God wants you to see.
Now to me, ‘How are you doing, The purple Girl’ (whether you asked or not😄) I am fine– in the resting mode. I am preparing myself mentally for school. I am going to be doing something different in this new session. I would have to combine working actively in a role with studying. I don’t know how it will turn out. I am not scared. I know for certain God has a purpose so I am yielding to it. Plus, I will be taking you on this new journey with me as I know it is not going to be a smooth ride all through. This is just me preparing your mind for my rants and two cents when you read them.
Today, I want to share with you something God made me realize. First, God is intentional about you whether you believe it or not. He makes things happen around you to birth his own purposes in you. As His child, the work of pruning in you never stops because the goal is to be more like him daily.
Last week, I came across an opportunity while scrolling on social media. I looked at it briefly and I scrolled. However, the Holyspirit told me to check it again. I was reluctant and seriously not interested. But I obeyed, looked at it again and applied.
Subsequently, I was informed that there was a test that I was going to take. At this point, I just closed my mind that I am not interested. I clearly don’t want stress please 😏. Again, the Holyspirit instructed me to reach out to someone about the details of the test. As he knew that I needed to have an idea of what exactly the test was going to be about for the opportunity. However, I did not want to reach out because I felt this person was proud and may not be willing to share the full details with me. Meanwhile, the Holyspirit was brooding on my heart because he knew that that was not the issue at play. The issue was Me!
I did not want to send this message because I felt that it would make me look helpless. Looking helpless was the last thing that I wanted as I had a false reality that i could figure it out even if I did not ask for the details. This was a lie i told myself as I did not have it figured out!
As I refused to reach out, the Holyspirit kept brooding on my heart. God began to make me see that my problem was pride. This pride in me made me feel I could do it without any form of assistance. This pride was preventing my obedience to God. The same pride you do not admit to even when you know it is the problem in you.
I mean you would say it does not hurt to reach out and ask for guidance on an issue you don’t know about. Last last the person just ignores your message and you will move on with your life. However, this flesh in you can be so subtle, making you think that you are doing the right thing by not reaching out for help when you need to.
But I chose to obey and I sent the message. Amazingly, this person was eager to help and shared all the details I needed. Our conversation helped me to know what to prepare and expect for the test.
This simple situation is similar to what happens to us daily. You ask God to guide you concerning a particular thing. Then the Holyspirit tells you to take a step, reach out to someone or even halt what you were doing. Many times, you don’t obey. You ignore it and choose your way. Thereby, giving room to the flesh. Scripture tells us that the flesh lust after the spirit and the spirit after the flesh. This is why we must always walk in the spirit. Your walking in the spirit is a deliberate decision to daily obey the instructions of the spirit no matter how seemingly difficult or nonsensical they appear to you. Your obedience is the many ‘yeses’ you give to God moment after moment. It is usually during situations where you are confronted between choosing to obey God’s instructions and another seemingly pleasurable option.
The moments you choose to obey God’s instructions contribute to your growth. God is making me realize somethings about certain aspects of our lives. There are a lot of people I admire whether physically or on social media. For some it is their love and hunger for God, for others it is their success in their career and for others showing up everytime to whatever they do. I often catch myself asking God: ‘how do these people do it? What am I missing? God please show me how to do same and even better.’
The reply I get is a series of questions: ‘How many yeses have you given me beloved for every aspect of your life?’ ‘How many times has the Holyspirit nudged you to pray and you did not?’ ‘How many times has the spirit nudged you to study?’ ‘How many times has the spirit nudged you to practice your skill?’ ‘How many times have you truly obeyed my instructions?’
Most times, you and I might think that our growth in any area of our lives depends only on taking big steps while forgetting that the small steps you take daily accumulate into those big steps. You want to be successful and be a person of influence. What small steps are you are taking? ‘Are you saying yes to prayer?’ ‘Yes to studying of the word of God?’ ‘ Yes to improving your skills?’ ‘ Yes to consistency?’ ‘Yes to daily consecration?’ ‘Yes to trusting God?’ Are you always saying yes to obedience?
I see you and I see myself. I see that we struggle with yieldedness to obedience but you and I must fight and win. Not in ourselves, as we have lost if it be so but through His Spirit working in us, He helps us win.
Thus, I wish that in this new week your heart says Yes Lord! Yes to obedience! Yes to my growth in and with you! Yes to God in all things.

The Purple Girl.
Good mentality to have, God doesn't demand but requests we yield which is fascinating. We can choose to yield or turn away and endure tragedies that have no raison d'etre or endure tragedies for him. But he lives in all of us so that when we yield to him, we yield to the best parts of ourselves also.
